Meet Our Founder

Hi, I’m Arvia—a mother, wife, professional matchmaker, and certified science-based relationship and dating coach. I help young Black professionals create meaningful connections, empowering them to find love and build strong, enduring relationships. Driven to make a difference and be part of the solution, I’m here to help connect all the dots in your life.
A major shift is happening within the Black community. The state of Black families, marriages, and opportunities for wealth creation is at a critical crossroads. The recent pandemic, online dating apps rooted in bias, and evolving cultural norms have only amplified the challenges we’re already facing. This has made it increasingly difficult for young Black Americans to form the meaningful, lifelong, and robust relationships they deserve.
In 2021, inspired to address these challenges, I became a certified matchmaker and founded DOTTIE. Over time, I expanded my expertise to include science-based relationship and dating coaching, creating an even deeper impact by equipping my clients with the tools and insights they need to navigate the complexities of modern dating. DOTTIE provides access to exclusive events, personalized introductions, and coaching tailored to today’s dating dynamics for young Black professionals in their 20s and 30s.
Throughout my personal and professional journey, I have cultivated a diverse network of valuable connections and lasting friendships. After graduating from Howard University with a degree in Business Administration, I spent more than a decade in sales and marketing at Procter & Gamble and Honeywell. For the last 28 years, I have been building a family with my husband and two children while dedicating my time to philanthropic work in my communities.
As my children have grown into young adults and navigated their own personal, social, and professional journeys, my passion for helping young people and emphasizing the importance of building strong Black families has only grown stronger. Through my work with DOTTIE, I aim to make critical connections for the Black community, fostering relationships that are essential for career, community, and personal success.
DOTTIE is named after my mother, Dorothy, who was a passionate advocate for the Black civil rights, a respected member of the Atlanta community, and a loving mother and grandmother. Naming this organization after her honors her memory and the values she embodied—values that remain at the heart of everything we do.
