A major shift is happening within the Black community. The state of Black families, marriages, and opportunities for wealth creation is at a critical crossroads. The recent pandemic, online dating apps rooted in bias, and evolving cultural norms have only amplified the challenges we’re already facing. Thus, it has become increasingly difficult for young Black Americans to form meaningful, lifelong, robust relationships with one another.

In 2021, inspired to find ways to address the problem, I became a certified matchmaker and founded ... DOTTIE, a concierge matchmaking service and social club for young Black professionals in their 20s and 30s. Over the years, I have developed a diverse network of valuable connections and lasting friendships throughout my personal and professional journey. After graduating from Howard University with a degree in Business Administration, I spent more than a decade in sales and marketing at Procter & Gamble and Honeywell. In addition, I have spent the last 25 years building a family with my husband and two children and dedicating my time to philanthropic work in my communities.

As my children have grown into young adults and navigated their own personal, social, and professional journeys, my desire to help young people and to emphasize the importance of building strong Black families grew even more vital. I am excited to make these critical links for the Black community, connecting all of the dots in their lives. I genuinely believe these relationships are essential for career, community, and personal success—successes I believe young Black professionals unequivocally deserve.

I am deeply grateful to all who have influenced and enriched my journey—from my early East Coast upbringing to academic pursuits at UVA’s McIntire School of Commerce and Duke’s Fuqua School of Business; to matrimony and motherhood; to an accomplished 20+ year career within the professional services and consumer packaged goods industries.

When approached by my longtime friend with her DOTTIE concept, the idea of accelerating connections within the Black... community resonated. Not only as a mother of three young, Black adults, but also as a businesswoman who sees a void in the marketplace and an opportunity to build a solution. I knew my nearly decade-long experience in the executive search industry combined with strong EQ, consulting and marketing expertise would help bring this vision to life.

Our goal is to create something special—an exceptional network of talented and ambitious individuals who appreciate the power of cultural connection. We aim to celebrate Black excellence, encourage Black unions and marriages, and ultimately build generational community equity. Together with you, we intend to affect change.
